Horse Properties for Sale in Murray, Utah

Murray sits squarely in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley, which makes it an unusual place to look for horse property. This is a built-out city of roughly 50,000 people, bordered by Holladay, Millcreek, and Taylorsville, with TRAX light rail running through it and Intermountain Medical Center as one of the valley's largest employers. True equestrian acreage is genuinely rare here — most of the older lots big enough to keep a horse are tucked along the Jordan River corridor or in the few remaining pockets where quarter-acre and half-acre parcels survived the postwar subdivision boom. When a horse-zoned property does come up in Murray, it tends to move fast because buyers get the best of both worlds: room for a small barn or arena, plus a five-minute drive to I-15, I-215, and the Salt Lake International Airport about 15 minutes north.

Check the zoning carefully on anything you tour — Murray's animal ordinances and lot-size requirements vary by neighborhood, and what looks like horse property on paper sometimes isn't. Buyers usually weigh Murray listings against larger spreads in Riverton, Bluffdale, or Erda, but the trade-off here is location: you're 20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake, close to Cottonwood Heights trailheads, and an hour from Park City. Expect prices to run well above per-acre comps in the south valley because you're paying for the address as much as the pasture.
